Abstract
Confucianism, a widely used philosophical system in Vietnam at the period, had a major impact on the Early Le Dynasty's philosophy of appreciating and using gifted people. This was the time when Confucian intellectuals had clear ideas of gifted people who were supposed to have moral qualities in addition to their skills. These people were skilled in the arts and culture but, more significantly, they were political and administratively savvy. This philosophy of appreciating gifted people helped the Early Le Dynasty go through an amazing period of progress and was important for later Vietnamese historical eras.
