Metaphor as a Mechanism of Term Formation in Computer Science and Cybernetics (based on the Material of German and Russian Languages)

Abstract
This article aims to identify the formation and functioning patterns of term units developing on the basis of common vocabulary. Metaphor is the main mechanism of term formation based on commonly used words. The article discusses the units of the terminological system of computer science and cybernetics based on the material of the Russian and German languages. The research methods were descriptive and comparative methods, as well as methods of psycholinguistic experiments and statistical calculations. Metaphorical reinterpretation is based on associations and analogies associated with a specific image, which serves as a motive for the new meaning of the word-term.
