Abstract
The aim of the research is to demonstrate how the Service-Learning method can be employed in preparing lexicographical projects by Applied Linguistics students for use in medical communication between medical staff and patients with migration experience. Another aim is to prove that the SL method can contribute to the effectiveness of foreign language learning in specialized communication. The three phases of project implementation using SL were discussed: planning, implementation and evaluation/reflection. Four medical glossaries intended for the local community were presented. The group using SL showed much greater interest in the classes and were much more involved in carefully developing projects. The ability to empathize with people requiring medical care and those with migration experience was also noted. Implementing the SL method in classes with Applied Linguistics students was an optimal way to increase learning effectiveness in the post-pandemic period.
